Lake Hart, South Australia

Our current location is on the Sturt Highway some 300km south of the small opal mining town of Coober Pedy. We are camped at a small roadside free camp overlooking Lake Hart. It is a fabulous view, have a look at our location on Google Earth, it is 31 14'01.26"S and 136 24'17.09"E. There are also some nice shots of the lake on GE as well.

There are about 12 RVs here at present and I guess they will be staying the night with us. There are no inhabitants at all in this area. We should see a fantastic showing of the Milky Way tonight as it is perfectly clear. I walked down to the lake to check it out and as there are millions of flies around Faye stayed in the RV. The salt crust at the edge of the lake is formed by large flakes and in some spots they make up strange formations. However, we will both get up at dawn tomorrow to beat the flies and go down for a look. The lake has a rare body of water at the moment as the red centre has had some great rains recently.

Tomorrow we expect to move on the Coober Pedy. It's now "happy hour" so I must sign off.
